Kimberly Williams

Meet Kimberly Williams, the heart and soul of Weddings by the Vine.  Since 2004, Kimberly has been planning and coordinating weddings across North Carolina, helping brides realize the romantic day they’ve been dreaming of.

She loves everything about weddings, from the engagement story to the vows (her favorite part!) and is thrilled to marry this love with another passion – wine.  She takes classes, studies wine and explores vineyards whenever she has the opportunity, with a particular interest on the vineyards of North Carolina.

Kimberly’s two passions intertwine to give brides beautiful, impeccably planned rehearsals, wedding ceremonies and receptions. Beyond her extensive knowledge of both weddings and wine, her experience runs deep – from her education at Meredith College to her designations as a Professional Wedding Planner and Certified Green Wedding Professional.  She is former Chair of the NC Wedding Ring and a member of the International Special Events Society (ISES).

Now that you’ve learned a bit about Kimberly, we’d love to learn more about you!  Please visit our contact page.

Career Inspiration

What really inspires me is nature and the outdoors – combine these with a beautiful couple in love, and I’m done – it’s really about the two coming together.  There is just something so natural and genuine about it.   My favorite thing about my business would definitely be the feeling I get after helping put all the pieces together.  There are a few moments right before the ceremony after everything is set up, that I just love – it’s like a quick reflection, and I try to remember to step back and take it in for a minute – everything is just so beautiful and the personality of the couple comes to life.

Home Life

I’m married to my college crush, and it’s been an amazing adventure ever since.  We have two beautiful children – a daughter that loves us so much she moved to Singapore and a son who loves NC – so thankful for that!

Education & Experience

I started out as a paralegal which later progressed into handling legal placement for law firms in the area.  I decided to go back to school and graduated from Meredith College with a business degree / finance concentration.  Believe it or not, aspects of all three industries come into play when planning a wedding – creating your beginning budget, reviewing contracts and vendor selection along with being a very detailed person.  Wine comes into play as well, and I actually started researching the wine industry in North Carolina at Meredith and decided then it was something that I wanted to focus on.  Throughout all of this, I also volunteered as a wedding coordinator at my church.  Couples are so thankful for the assistance and they have a little peace knowing that their ceremony will flow smooothly.

Food Tastes

I’m a very picky eater – enough said.

Health Strategy

I finished my first 1/2 marathon this year – what an accomplishment!  Needless to say, I love the outdoors and especially jogging, kayaking and hiking.  Wine tasting is my other health strategy – you know what they say about red wine…

Go-To Music

I grew up near Detroit and went to concerts all the time, so I absolutely have to say rock music!  I hate to admit it but the last couple of years, country has been creeping in and I’ve even been to a few concerts…my Michigan friends just don’t understand, so let’s keep it hush, hush!

Lessons Learned

Absolutely no drama!  It usually just turns something small and manageable into something big and out of control.

Where I’ve Been

I’ve been so fortunate to have travelled to Europe on several occasions – wine tastings of course in Italy, France, Germany and the UK.  I’m really torn when it comes to booking vacations because I’m also a huge beach lover so Hawaii and the Caribbean are also favorites.  Fun fact – I’ve heard that there’s a vineyard in every state now so every time my husband and I travel anywhere in the US, we’ll scout out vineyards.  One of my favorites is the one vineyard on the Big Island in Hawaii – very interesting:)

Hobbies

Wine tasting, travel and decorating.

Favorite Things

Color:         Burgandy, like wine!

Movies:      A good story without all the Hollywood fluff.

Holiday:     I love July 4th and without this one, would the others be as nice?

Snack:       Sweet & salty combination — trail mix:)

What super power would you like to have?

Whatever power Samantha from Bewitched or Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie had where I can clean my house in an instant – there’s nothing like a clean house!!

What is something you could not live without?

It just can’t be one thing — wine, coffee and of course, my husband!

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

This just isn’t me — live in the moment!
