Career Inspiration

I love to set the tone of a wedding with live music!  Imagine watching a tv show or a movie without the soundtrack.  That soundtrack truly makes the film and I feel that it is what music does for a wedding ceremony. It evokes joy and excitement, tears of happiness, memories of loved ones, the solemnity of the occasion, and the absolute fun of the day.

Home Life

I have a wonderful husband who is such a great supporter and friend, and two amazing boys who are an absolute joy. We have quite a houseful with a nocturnal cat, an older lab who is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever imagine, and we have just welcomed a rescue shepherd pup to our home- a great girl who is such a love and keeps us on our toes!

Education & Experience

I received my Bachelor of Music from University of South Carolina and dual Master of Music from Bowling Green State University in Violin Performance and Music History.  I began playing weddings when I was at USC and have been playing them ever since.  I’ve played chamber music for a long time- even while I was in high school, I played in a quartet and had a Friday evening job playing dinner music at a restaurant in my hometown.

As a musician, I love having the opportunity to do so many different things from performing to teaching. With performing, I enjoy all different types of events and playing different styles of music- symphony, opera, broadway shows, rock. You name it, I’ll go for it!

That’s a hard one.  I love good cheeses, a melt-in-your-mouth steak, fresh veggies, homemade bread.  I’m not really picky when it comes to food!

Health Strategy

I really enjoy working out and and the way it makes me feel.  Running is probably my favorite– just being outdoors, on my own, with a great playlist to listen to. With running, I enjoy the challenge of going farther and getting faster.

Go-To Music

I have a crazy variety of music that I enjoy- from classical to Broadway to Christian rock, and favorites by ELO, Lifehouse, Rush, Foo Fighters, Mraz, Lumineers, Train, and it goes on.

Lessons Learned

Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed with “things to do.”  There will always be things to do, but take the time to enjoy life and all the wonderful things about it.

Hobbies

Reading, running… is there time for anything else? 🙂

Favorite Things

Color: Yellow- I have always loved bright, sunshine yellow.

Movies: Totally depends on what I’m in the mood for.  But “The Proposal” always makes me laugh.

Holiday: Easter- I love the feeling of Spring, the joyfulness that Easter morning brings, Easter hymns and all.

Sports:  Baseball- love to watch it, love to be at the games, and right now I love watching my oldest in little league.

What super power would you like to have?

I would say speed so that I can get from one place to another quickly and have more time for other things, but sometimes the journey is too nice to pass by.

What is something you could not live without?

My faith.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

I don’t know about a specific year, but late nineteenth century. Growing up, I wanted nothing more than to be on the prairie with Laura Ingalls.

Beverage of Choice Coffee or tea?

I’m a tea drinker- green tea, chai, half-sweet/half-unsweet iced tea.  But I can’t pass up a good cup of coffee… which I seem to need more often now than I used to! 🙂
